Designing in Larkspur
Larkspur sits in its own pocket of Douglas County, south of Castle Rock where the suburbs give way to ponderosa forest, red rock outcroppings, and homes set on real acreage. Houses here are built around their views: Pikes Peak from the great room, scrub oak and granite from the primary suite. That kind of setting asks a lot of an interior. Big windows and tall ceilings can make a room feel cavernous instead of calm, and a palette that competes with the landscape rarely wins. E+E Design Consulting works from Denver, but the drive down I-25 is a familiar one: The Canyons, our current new build project, sits in Castle Pines, a few exits north of the Larkspur turnoff. Kendra Stewart founded the studio in 2021 after more than fifteen years in design and construction, including architectural detailing and construction documentation. That background matters here, where projects tend to mean custom builds on sloped lots or whole-home renovations of 1990s Perry Park houses. We design interiors that are boldly personal and beautifully buildable, full of the intentional, unexpected details that make a home feel collected rather than decorated.
Our closest work is just up the highway. At The Canyons in Castle Pines, we are turning a semi-custom builder plan into something fully custom for a family of six, with double kitchen islands and teal paneling that no spec sheet would have predicted. And in Stonegate, near Parker, our 2023 main floor renovation convinced the owners to stay in a house they had planned to leave. Both projects are a short drive from Larkspur, and both show how we work: livable, layered, anything but ordinary.
